A member asked:

My 7 year old needs a pulpotomy. how long does it take? will nitrous oxide make him sick? how soon after the procedure can he eat normally?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

30-40 min n safe: Nitrous oxide when administered is carefully titrated to make him comfortable and is continuously monitored so amounts given can be decreased as necessary to avoid sickness Once he is comfortable and numb ( still use novacaine) it takes about 30 min. Once he's recovered from nitrous he can go home. There's chance car ride might make him sick. He can eat when novacaine has worn off
