A member asked:

Got iv infiltration & phlebitis. arm swollen/painful so starting oral antibiotic bc i take immunosprsnt 4vasculitis. the signs to watch for here@home?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Worsening symptoms: if oral meds work you should improve. Further swelling, new or worsening fever and more extensive redness are the signs of trouble. If the oral antibiotics fail, you would need IV antibiotics. Oral meds usually work in this setting. Good luck.
