Many causes, and: if your child is currently under the care of a neurologist, appropriate testing may include both imaging studies as well as blood tests for intrauterine infection, karyotyping and other DNA tests. If hypotonia is fairly acute onset and associated with lethargy and constipation, consider botulism. Sometimes cause is not found, but early intervention may be helpful.
