Iron deficient?: The most common anemia in females is iron deficiency often due to menstrual blood loss. Once worrisome causes of blood loss have been excluded by your doctor, looking at your diet is a good next step. The most concentrated sources of iron come from unusual foods: beef/chicken liver, clams/mussels/oysters, sardines, then beef/poultry/fish. Also iron fortified cereals, beans, tofu, broccoli.
