Be careful: For future reference, never put a q- tip any farther into an ear than the cotton tip, if you leave the ear alone, it should heal well, if any concerns if the bleeding does not stop, take your child to the pediatrician to see what was irritated to cause the bleeding. Do not put anything else in there until you see the doctor

Likely scraped canl: You likely scraped the ear canal but could have punctured the ear drum. It is worth an office visit during regular hours. We encourage parents to avoid Q tips or the "safety Q tips" because they are not. Wax is made in the outer half of the canal and these just push it further in. They are ineffective befoe the teen years at the earliest.
