Chronic sore throat: is your question? Not sure what CDC means in your question as you are writing from UK (here it means Center for Disease Control!).But chronic inflammation of tonsils (tonsillitis), strep throat, allergies, smoking, mouth breathing & reflux can all be causes of chronic sore throat. See your doctor for correct diagnosis: lozenges, salt water gargle, humidifier, lots of water, OTC pain pills can help
