They can: But the 1st question is; why is the 16 year old having trouble sleeping. Talk to an adult you trust and discuss this problem with them. It would not show positive in a drug screen and again, why is this a concern? An adult should be aware that you are taking the medication. All the best.

Look on the fine : print. Anything that says "pm" on it has diphenhydramine aka Unisom aka Benadryl in it. Yes it can cause false positives. Depends on test brand. It's used in pediatrics for allergic reactions, so it's fair to say the general medical population considers it safe *properly dosed* It is mildly habit-forming, but way less than doxylamine. Don't use combo products. Does she need ibuprofen in Advil PM?
