A member asked:

How would you know if you have an anal fissure, hemorrhoids, or whatnot? been checked, no blood, occasional pain when defecation.

Dr. John Choi answered

Anal pain: You still have an anal fissure, rectal ulcer, and internal hemorrhoids. You should get an anoscopy or flexible sigmoidoscopy to have someone look inside. A gastroenterologist or colorectal surgeon can do this. Most treatments for the above are creams / ointments.
