A member asked:

Mri results on l knee- patellaofemoral, medial compartment chrondomalacia with slight joint effusion. 1yr post mcl repair. do i need another surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No surgery needed: The results are consistent with thinning of the cartilage in two of the three main compartments of the knee. This is essentially osteoarthritis of the knee with the swelling (aka effusion) likely a result of that. You do not need surgery for this, you need to have an effective plan for managing arthritis in the long term. An orthopedic specialist can help you create such a plan.
