OA vs RA: You should make sure the diagnosis is rheumatoid arthritis to consider starting Methotrexate. If unsure then send the patient to a rheumatologist that is our bread and butter. Also medications like methotrexate need monitoring and most of RA patients need more than MTX to achieve remission, which is our goal.
