A member asked:

How will glucosamine compare to nsaids for the treatment of osteoarthritis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Different: Glucosamine has no anti-inflammatory effects while that is the purpose of nsaids. In oa some people do get relief from nsaids but there are more potential side effects then with glucosamine. Glucosamin may or may not help with oa pain at all. Depending on your other medical history, nsaids may be worth a try for oa. Neither nsaids or glucosamine treat the disease of oa only the symptoms.
