Specializes in Pediatrics - Developmental and Behavioral

Chronic antenatal : anxiety exposes a fetus to ^ levels of cortisol, which, if sustained, cause neuroendocrine changes in areas of the fetal brain that control cognitve ability, stress-related behaviors & emotions from infancy thru adulthood. It also increases risk of premature labor, low birthweight & low Apgar scores. Seek referral from your OB to a psychiatrist & to a psychologist for Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
