Not unusual...: It is a usual body response to a cold (which most of the time is caused by a virus) to cause some elevation in your white blood cell count. This is a mild elevation and it happened while you were having symptoms reason why your doctor did not feel it was of concern. However, if you persist with symptoms or develop new symptoms a follow up visit with your doctor is recommended.

Me neither: Percentages of white cells really mean nothing. They fluctuate wildly from hour to hour. Reference ranges are set so that several percent of healthies fall outside on either end. Lymphocytes come out to help you fight off viruses anyway. It sounds like you take good care of yourself in any case and you should be congratulated. Trusting you'll be over your viral illness soon.
