A member asked:

I have been experiencing persistent fatigue and my blood work was all normal but wbc was low at 3.8. my doc does not seem too concern. i want info?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Numbers are just...: Numbers are just numbers. Without the whole picture, such as why certain lab tests were done, what all the other results were, etc., numbers usually cannot tell much. The 3.8 value by itself doesn't indicate a problem, because many normal people have a WBC count of 3.7 to 3.9. One can ask his ordering doctor for more help, if symptoms continue longer, in the setting of his whole health history.
