A member asked:

5yo daughter fever for 9 days now. temp at 39.9c highest, reacts to acetaminophen to <37.5 but climbs back post dosage time. fever not breaking. why?

Needs diagnosis: You should take your child to a doctor to figure out 'what' is going on. Acetaminophen will indeed 'mask' the fever, but you need to find out the 'root cause' of the problem. For any fever that's prolonged like this, she needs a thorough evaluation. I don't want to scare you, but a self-limited illness should be done and over with by now. An infectious diseases specialist would be able to help.
