Needs antibiotics: Pneumonia needs to be treated with an appropriate antibiotic, unless it is due to a virus. The first issue is if she is on an antibiotic. If she is, it may take a day or two (usually not more than this) for the fever to settle down. If she is on an antibiotic and the fever is persisting for more than 24-48 hours, then she may need a different antibiotic, and should be reevaluated by her doctor.
