Could i take xanax (alprazolam) and ritalin? have anxiety/depression/add w/o hyperactivity and the ritalin makes me somewhat irritable. also take prozac 40mg.

It is possible to take all three medications safely. You want to be sure that you are under the care of a doctor who discusses the reasons that you are taking them, the game plan ( treatment plan ) , possible side effects as well as the advantage of additional mental health therapy.

works 20-60 min. after a dose, peaks at 1-2 hours & wears off in 3-4 hours. Irritability & anxiety are either side effects or rebound effects as dose wears off. Multiple daily doses must be taken 30 minutes before the prior dose wears off. Long- acting stimulants or non-stimulants that last 24/7 after 4-6 wks. are preferable, even for ADHD-Primarily Inattentive Type. Talk to your psychiatrist.
