Pills are not answer: Pills are not the answer when dealing with grieving over terrible medical diagnoses. Talk therapy with a good counselor is high on the list of what to do to help you. Also finding others in person or on line who are dealing with these problems can be a good source of learning how to manage the stress of being ill.

He would not: Necessarily prescribe these medications based only on those diagnoses. While those are challenging illnesses to have they can be managed and don't uniformly cause what you are experiencing. I suspect you haven't been given or couldn't hear the information your doctor shared with you. Recommend you make an appointment and before going make a list of questions. I'm sure he/she will be responsive.

Bring it up: Doctors can't always tell what is going on - we get most of our information from the history we are given. Be sure to mention the depression and panic to your doctor. He will then guide the discussion to determine what medications would be the greatest benefit to you. He will give you what is needed but he has to know the symptoms you are experiencing!
