Adult: In most cases, you should not have a breast augmentation until you are an adult. Other forms of breast surgery, for some female breast diseases could be done before that age, but would depend on the individual case. Breast augmentation: Saline breast implants are available to women 18 and older for breast augmentation and to women of any age for breast reconstruction. Silicone breast implants are available to women 22 and older for breast augmentation and to women of any age for breast reconstruction.

It depends...: In most cases, we generally wait until a patient is at least 18 years of age before proceeding with a breast augmentation. But that age may be somewhat flexible given pre-existing circumstances such as severe asymmetry. I also try and assess underlying reasons for the surgery and level of maturity of the patient (as I do with a patient at any age!).
