Boob?: Breast job (i think the question relates to augmentaion) it should be considered in adult life. We have done 15-16 years old who were born withabsent or hypoplastic breast on one side. The rest are adults 18 years and over.

Over 18: Breast enhancement with saline or gel prosthesis should wait until the breast tissue is fully mature, around 18 years of age. Shape, size, location and asymmetries can best be addressed after tissues have achieved their maximum size. Pregnancies will affect the tissue elasticity and breast size, so revisional surgery may be needed. Later in life, a gel implant +/- breast lift work the best.

Old Enough: Ideally you'd be old enough to make a truly informed decision. However, society has decided that 18 is that magic number.

Are you serious?: Breast implants are it a need even in the event of breast cancer. They are an elective surgical option that carries risks, serious ones, that should be fully understood. You need to know the potential complications and outcomes and alternatives. You should insist that your surgeon discuss these with you. This is a lifelong undertaking and should not be decided on a whim. Society sets an age of 18.

Adult: In most cases, you should not have a breast augmentation until you are an adult. Other forms of breast surgery, for some female breast diseases could be done before that age, but would depend on the individual case. Please discuss with your parents and an ethical and profecient cosmetic or plastic surgeon.

It depends...: In most cases, we generally wait until a patient is at least 18 years of age before proceeding with a breast augmentation. But that age may be somewhat flexible given pre-existing circumstances such as severe asymmetry. I also try and assess underlying reasons for the surgery and level of maturity of the patient (as I do with a patient at any age!).
