You're the judge: Pain is rather subjective, not objective. You and only you can decide when pain is severe enough for you to seek attention. However, some guidelines: Consider seeing your family doc if pain doesn't respond to over-the-counter medications, if pain is getting worse over time, or if pain worsens w/walking & improves w/rest (peripheral vascular disease) or leg feels cold or looks either pale or blue.

Judgement: You would need to use your judgement. If it is severe and unexplained, you would be well served to be seen. If it is mild and you know why it is there, then it may not be terribly helpful to be seen. If any question, might err in the side of being seen.
