As long as needed: Your breast milk is superior to other feeds up to 8 mo when the addition of other foods begins to decrease the need.You can continue well into pregnancy & some moms have actually fed 2 infants as if they were twins. However, if the kid begins to make short work of feeds and you have to chase her down to feed, wean. New babies benefit from a different milk than the older ones.Switching takes time
