How do clinicians distinguish between someone with unknown bcg vaccination vs latent tb?

BCG should be known: A properly performed BCG vaccine should leave a visible papery scar. So the status should always be known. BCG can cause positive TB test. This is the tricky part strong positive of 5-10 mm or over has to be investigated as TB and even prophylaxis with medications. Latent and primary complex that is asymptomatic ca be similar in test positive...best to consult ID or your doctor.

We do not: Unless clear lesions on chest X-Ray or active symptoms: cough, fever, weight loss, we cannot distinguish. The recommendation for treatment is made mostly to prevent transmission of possible latent TB in the community.
