Yes to the doc: Cold or flu like symptoms can last up til about one week. The viral illness will make you fell very weak. The advil (ibuprofen) is good but make sure you do not take too much. I assume you mean the pain in throat fells like it is on the outside. I cannot explain this except this must be a very bad sore throat. Would see the doc tomorrow.

7-10 days: Upper respiratory tract infections last in average 7-10 that means 50% last that time and 50% May last up 2-3 weeks. If it last more than this may need to see your doctor. Good Luck.!!!

Safer to see an MD: For a viral syndrome, requiring Advil, (ibuprofen) to last 6 days, it would be best to see ones doctor to enable a careful exam and decision concerning the appropriate treatment. In addition, some bacterial infections can couse similar symptoms and would require an antibiotic for cure.
