To compare: Mammograms are more valuable when you can compare them year to year and be certain that there are no changes. The radiologist is being cautious and that is good. As doctors we live in fear of missing something resulting in hurting someone. Hope this helps.

Makes sense to me: screening mammograms are different from diagnostic mammograms and it makes sense to have a screening mammogram being followed by a diagnostic mammogram. ask your doctor next time around to Order a diagnostic mammogram from the beginning rather then ordering a screening mammogram with a high likelihood of you having to go back for a diagnostic mammogram.
