Still a good screen: Mammograms still represent a good and inexpensive screening mechanism for determining the presence or absence of breast masses...Even if other images may sometimes also be needed. Mri exams of the breast offer much information but are also much more expensive than mammograms typically.

Mammograms: They are not perfect, but they are still the standard of care for breast cancer screening. They are not prehistoric....significant advances have been made in recent years, notably digital mammography and 3D breast tomosynthesis.
