Yes, be checked: Your problem may be nothing more than an infected lymph node from perhaps shaving or other skin infection. You should be carefully examined to see if other lymph nodes are enlarged. A good exam and perhaps routine blood work should be done. Warm compresses and antibiotics may be selected by your physician. Hope you are okay.

You should: But remember, it's actually better that a lump be painful from a cancer perspective as lymphomatous nodes tends to be painless while reactive nodes(like from infections) tend to be painful. It may not be a lymph node at all though, and having it checked out is good medicine. Best of luck.

Exam needed: If this mass has not receded or if it has increased in size, it requires an evaluation by your physician. Also if it's tender and reddened, it may be an infected cyst or hair follicle and needs attention. Lymphoma is a possibility if it's an enlarged lymph gland, but hopefully it's something nonmalignant.
