Severe RSV worse: You are right --severe cases of RSV and pneumonia are equally dangerous in toddler .But treating RSV is more difficult as it is more elaborate treatment and needs extensive respiratory therapy .Also carries more mortality than pneumonia .Hope it helps you .

Both serious: Both RSV and bacterial pneumonia can be serious in young children. RSV is caused by a virus and is self-limited, but may take weeks to resolve. Bacterial pneumonia is usually treated with an antibiotic. Either can require hospitalization if the patient doesn't seem to be getting enough oxygen.
