A member asked:

How long does it take for mirtazapine to get into your system and work for sleep.my psychiatrist has prescribed 15 mg for me to take at bedtime?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sedative effect: Yes Mirtazapine should help you sleep. It is called REMeron (mirtazapine) as a Brand name since it helps promote dream sleep stages. Initially you may even sleep too much. The oversedation should wear off after 7 to 10 days. If not, you might ask MD to co-prescribe duloxetine or venlafaxine with it to counter balance the side effects of sedation and increased appetite.
