Try exercise, quiet comfortable atmosphere and bed to sleep in. Light meal several hours before bedtime, avoiding caffeinated drinks and sticking to the same time to go to bed -first. If not successful then see your MD for advice in your situation. Any med for sleep is habit forming and not good for health. Wishing you pleasant ZZZZZZZs

Dr Tandan's suggestions should be heeded as a starting point, and would urge you avoid all prescription medicines for sleep, as you have reached tolerance challenges, and best to head into a sleep hygiene program which your primary care doctor should easily provide. If you need more assistance, we can set up a virtual consult (www.connect@healthtap.com).

If someone has been on sleep meds for a long time we sometimes do a wash out period of nothing and things will then work again a little better. Many times there are other factors like chronic meds. Pain meds for example and as long as your on them you might not sleep that well.

Please discuss this with your Psychiatrist who may recommend a Sleep Study. There are also other medications for sleep that may help you. One is called Trazodone.
