See doctor: You may have an infection in the area or an umbilical hernia. Ask your doctor to take a look at it.

Could be: deep infection or, rarely, benign or even malignant tumor. It is best to show it to a doctor for accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.

2 possibilities: You may have an umbilical hernia, which is a defect in the abdominal wall at the level of the umbilicus. If the area is exquisitely tender and inflamed, it is possible, depending on the size of the defect, that incarceration of the underlying bowel has occurred. Alternatively, you may have a boil or furuncle at the navel from a prior break in the skin. You should probably see a physician.
