Soon: depending on your diet, and exercise and or other factors, your bloodwork will already show that you are in prediabetes. Once your hemoglobin A-1 C is over 7.0, you are classified as diabetic. So go ahead, do preventive measures with your doctor. Let her or him instruct you what you can do to improve your lifestyle habits, and have better nutrition and increase exercise to prevent diabetes.

Unpredictable: If you were told you have prediabetes it means your risk of developing diabetes is increased but there is no good way to tell if it will happen in 1 month, 1 year, 10 years or even later. Even if we knew how abnormal you blood tests are we could not really predict. The major risk factor for prediabetes and type 2 is obesity so your job is to try to slim down and reduce your risk of type 2 diabete
