Slowly: You cannot just stop breastfeeding, you will get engorged. Instead what you need to do is cut out a feeding every 5-7 days. You need to plan ahead if you are going back to work, it may take a good 6 weeks to stop completely

Women experience engorgement and breast discomfort when stopping breastfeeding, but it goes away. Warm compresses can help

If you decrease the number of nursings per day by one every few days, your body will slowly decrease the amount of milk it produces. Depending on your baby's age, you can offer the baby either formula or whole milk to replace the decrease in breast milk.
