Lymph nodes: It's the characteristics of the lymph nodes that are important. Are they firm or soft (spongy), do they move around or are they firmly stuck in place, are they tender or enlarging, have you recently had an infection (like a common cold) or injury/insect bites, and where are you finding them?

Hard to say: Lymph nodes are all over your body, and the exact number varies by person and the area you explored. Since you can't grow new ones once you've reached maturity, I wouldn't worry - it's the size, mobility, and pain associated with moving them that determines if something is wrong
