See below: Just a general simple knowledge of some basic conversational spanish would be nice & respectful. It would be difficult on very short notice to learn detailed medical spanish. It is likely that where you go there will already be medical providers with excellent english skills. Allergies, medications, medical history is important to know. Maybe you can bring copies of your medical reports and tests.

Why?: The real question here is why are going abroad to a country where you don't speak the language, you won't be able to call your doctor if something goes wrong, and they will not care to follow up with you? Shopping for price alone is a silly thing to do with your body. The cost of going abroad, if something shoud go wrong is astronomical. Stay home, stay safe. Learn spanish and visit as a tourist.

Why?: So, you're planning to go abroad for elective surgery - to a country where you don't speak the language, in a health care system that isn't regulated to us standards, and have a procedure with virtually no follow-up care or recourse in case of complications.
