Neither: Typically patients with nasal polyps have underlying allergies. The allergies lead to polyps and s the polyps get bigger, the block the openings to the sinuses, which then cause sinusitis. Treatment usually includes nasal saline rinse, oral antibiotics, nasal steroids and sometimes oral steroids, among others.
