A member asked:

What will happen to the pancreas of a type one diabetic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Beta cells: Most of the pancreas is fine. T1 diabetes is an autoimmune destruction of the beta cells, which produce insulin. Alpha cells (glucagon) delta cells (somatostatin, other hormones) are not affected. Also, the pancreatic enzymes that digest your food are not affected.
