When a type 2 diabetic is put on insulin injections, does that indicate that their pancreas has stopped producing insulin like with type 1diabetics?

Usually: Beta cell destruction is inevitable in type 2 diabetes, so eventually people with dm2 do need insulin. Some of us begin Insulin earlier to allow some help with postprandial Insulin rises following a meal before the last gasp of the pancreas.

No.: A type 2 diabetic pancreas may actually be producing very large amounts of insulin, but is still not producing enough to overcome the Insulin resistance of the muscle cells. Additional Insulin must sometimes be given.

Typically, No: Type ii diabetes, by definition, develops when the cells of your body become insensitive to the Insulin your pancreas produces. You still make fairly significant amounts, but not enough to overcome this insensitivity. That's why some type ii diabetics need extra insulin, to flood the body with Insulin and overcome the resistance. Some diabetics *do* have decreased Insulin production but most don't.
