Frenulotomy: The common procedure for tongue tie is called a frenulotomy, which cuts back the fibrous attachment leaving some behind.A frenulectomy would be a more extensive procedure. If done in the newborn period this is rather simple, if older, it often requires more involved assistance/anesthesia.
