Failed kidney meds: There are no medicines to reverse end stage renal disease (ESRD), once a patient is on dialysis. Patients who have acute renal failure can come off dialysis once their kidneys resume working and if one has ESRD the patient (P) will be on some type of renal replacement therapy for the rest of the P's life, unless the P is transplanted.
