Cystic Acne: Severe acne is characterized by deep cysts, inflammation, extensive damage to the skin and scarring. It requires an aggressive treatment regimen and should be treated by a dermatologist. Severe, disfiguring forms of acne can require years of treatment and may experience one or more treatment failures. However, almost every case of acne can be successfully treated. There is no one medication.

See dermatolgist: Accutane is a relaible treatment which works for the worst cases of cystic acne. It needs to be prescribed by a dermatologist registered to use accutane. You may respond to laser .The response can becas quick as 2-3 weeks. If laser is not for you or not effective enough Accutane can work well forvsever cases although on occasion it amy need to be repeated in about a year for a milder case.

Isotretinoin: Probably nothing else will be effective. Your acne is a grave social and professional liability. Get with your personal physician and see whether you're a candidate for this medicine -- which is not for the faint-hearted but is very effective.
