A member asked:

What is the difference between rheumatic and rheumatoid arthritis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Rheumatic arthritis is no longer used as a term for rheumatoid arthritis which is an autoimmune disease. Acute rheumatic fever, an infectious disease, can cause arthritis but it does not cause rheumatoid arthritis.
