See details: JRA is arbitrarily defined as rheumatoid arthritis starting before the age 16 and adult RA as starting at age 16 or later. RA does not cause chronic kidney disease unless there is a secondary amyloidosis and medication toxicity.

Age at dx & prognosi: JRA is diagnosed under age 16 Both are an inflammatory disorder that cause joint swelling and stiffness. Children may experience symptoms for a short time and recover completely or they may have a lifetime of symptoms. Adults usually don't experience complete absence of symptoms after dx. RA itself does not cause chronic kidney disease but some of the medications used for RA may impact kidneys
