Depends on symptoms: Medications for "colds" don't get rid of the cold but only alleviate symptoms. Fever can be reduced by tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil, nasal congestion can be relieved with a saline nasal spray and a mucolytic (mucunex), and cough can be relieved with a cough suppressant. Best to consult with your doctor first to confirm that a more serious infection is not occurring.
