What are symptoms?: Treatment of viral illnesses is based on the symptoms they cause. Runny / stuffy nose - decongestants, cough - antitussives, nausea / vomiting - anti nausea meds, headache / body aches - analgesics, insomnia - benadryl, (diphenhydramine) fever acetaminophen or aspirin (for adults), etc.
