Near joint: Juxta articular refers to changes in the bone near a joint surface. Sclerosis often seen with early arthritic changes in a joint, or as the result of acute or repetitive trauma. Sclerosis results in bone hardening and often seen in conditions limiting blood flow to that area of bone. Also seen in sickle cell disease.
