A member asked:

What is a synacthen test? what's the general procedure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Synacthen: This test helps find out whether you adrenal glands are working properly or not.. A baseline blood draw for cortisol is done and then synacthen is given into the blood stream or the muscle. 30 minutes later a second blood draw for cortisol is done. The purpose is to see that your adrenal glands are doing OK or not.
