Dr. Thomas Deberardino answered

Specializes in Orthopedic Surgery

Tibial tubercle move: A Fulkerson procedure involves moving (via formal angled bony cut) the tibial tubercle (proximal bony prominence of leg bone) to the inside (medial) together with slight elevation (anterior) to provide for better movement mechanics such that the kneecap (patella) has a better chance of staying located in the femoral trochlea and hopefully thwart further patella instability episodes
