Combination Pill: Maxzide (hydrocholorthiazide and triamterene) is a combination pill that contains two types of diuretics ("water pills")--i.e. triamterene and hydrochlorothiazide. Triamterene is a potassium-sparing diuretic that blocks sodium channels in the collecting tubules in the kidney.
