Excellent question: I'd start with a good history & phys. incl osteopathic hands-on exam.Traditional treatments incl TENS units, NSAIDS (oral or topical), steroids, spinal stimulators, nerve blocks,rhizotomy, etc.A better alternative for many pts. is to have dr. that can find the ROOT CAUSE of the pain & fix it w/ treatments like manipulation/prolotherapy/neuroproltherapy, removing foods which cause inflammation, etc
